With the accelerating pace of urbanization in China, the people's living standards have increased substantially, and the requirements for building energy service levels have become higher and higher. This increase in demand has brought great challenges to China's building energy conservation work. According to the research report of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China's annual construction waste is about 2.4 billion tons, accounting for 40% of the total urban waste. It is imperative to carry out green construction work.
National policy supports the development of green building
In the 1980s, with the proposal of building energy conservation, the concept of green building began to enter China, and research on green building technology and evaluation system gradually emerged, and building energy conservation work was launched nationwide. In 2006, the former Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the “Green Building Evaluation Standards” (GB/T50378-2006), which was the first time to label green buildings. Subsequently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development continued to introduce policies to gradually improve the green building standards system suited to China's national conditions. In addition, the State Council has issued a series of policies and plans to clearly support the development of the green building industry.

Green building evaluation system pays attention to the "four sections and one environmental protection" factor
The development of green buildings can save resources, reduce pollution, and create a relatively healthy living environment and space for the public. According to the "Green Building Evaluation Standards" issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, China's green building evaluation standards divide green buildings into three levels: one-star, two-star, and three-star. The assessment of green buildings focuses on the elements of “four sections and one environmental protection”, namely energy conservation, land saving, water saving, material saving and environmental protection. In the process of building green buildings, solar technology is one of the most widely used green technologies. The solar collector is integrated into the exterior wall design, balcony design and roof design. At present, the solar water heating system and building integration technology are very mature.

Green building area of over 1 billion square meters
In recent years, China's green building practice has also steadily advanced, and the whole society's concept, understanding and demand for green building have gradually increased. According to data released by the China Real Estate Association, as of the end of December 2017, a total of 10,927 green building projects were announced nationwide, an increase of more than 3,000 over the previous year, and the green building area exceeded 1 billion square meters. Green buildings have already driven the development of the construction industry and even smart cities.

China will continue to increase the proportion of green buildings in the future
Since the publication of the first national “Green Building Evaluation Standard”, China's green building has been developed for more than a decade and is still an emerging green building market. According to the World Green Building Trends 2018 Annual Report released by Dodge Data & Analytics, 17% of Chinese respondents currently have less than 16% of green projects in construction, and only 9% of respondents have implemented green Construction projects account for more than 60%. Nevertheless, in the future, Chinese construction companies will greatly increase the participation of green buildings. It is estimated that by 2021, the proportion of green construction projects of Chinese construction enterprises will account for 30% of the proportion of more than 60%.
2 billion square meters of green building area by 2020
Since the potential of green building energy conservation and emission reduction exceeds the construction industry itself, substantial savings in resources and energy can be realized from the entire life cycle of the building. Therefore, green buildings are currently in the ascendant state. At the same time, national policies continue to increase. According to the requirements of the 13th Five-Year Plan for Building Energy Efficiency and Green Building Development, the development of China's green buildings will enter the “incremental upgrade” accelerator in 2016-2020. The plan requires that by 2020, the proportion of green building area in new buildings will exceed 50%, the proportion of projects with two-star signs in green buildings will exceed 80%, and the proportion of green building projects that have achieved operational signs will exceed 30%. By 2020, the country's new green building area will reach more than 2 billion square meters.
